Colombia Technology

I made the proposal in the last electoral debate provide the Department with a wireless network for broadband and high speed internet access and if today was the Governor already would have fulfilled that promise. Would have done using the WI MAX technology (English Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) already by this time fairly widespread in Colombia and which allows connections at speeds similar to achieved with ADSL and distances of up to 60 kilometers, but without the hassle of cable. Viktor Mayer-Schönberger has plenty of information regarding this issue. The project would not cost more than 40 billion, but the benefit would be fabulous in areas such as education, culture, technology transfer, regional exports, competitiveness, communications the Government online, productivity, employment and job opportunities so elusive for these times. Imagine for a moment the scenario of having covered 60% or 70% of departmental geography with a wireless network and 100,000 or 150,000 students equipped with laptops enabling it to be connected 24 hours to the internet daily, taking the possibility of virtual training technology, University or postgraduate (offered yet by colleges, institutions or universities in the region, not to mention impressive international offer that is now available to anyone on the web), all without leaving their municipalities or the sidewalks of the Department. Wouldn’t all this a real educational revolution? Would not be these technological advances in increasing regional competitiveness? Not these initiatives raised would reduce rates of poverty and inequality in the region? JORGE EDUARDO AND CONSUELO: CONGRATULATIONS! The election, once again, of Jorge Eduardo Gechem to the Senate is the product of some good political decisions taken by him, after a long period of absence. Should also add that he was courageous, in his quality of ex-secuestrado, take the endorsement of the party that embodies the thesis more radically opposed to the ideology of those who kept him deprived of freedom during so long. Its more than 17,000 voters in Huila showed that Jorge Eduardo will remain an important player in the regional landscape and its more than 27,000 outside the Department left him in a good position against his party and political chess looming. Many congratulations, again, for his victory.

Consuelo Gonzalez also go my sincere congratulations for the curule obtained in a hand in hand within the list of Liberal unit in Huila. I am sure that your experience, its principles, its prudence and its preparation make it represent the Department’s outstanding, worthy and decent way. His triumph is a magnificent work product, a perseverance foolproof and an efficient team that made things with austerity, effort and mystique. Forward comfort because the best times are ahead! original author and source of the article.
